The ten most common problems
- Missing or repeated page titles. Every page needs its own title of about 50 to 60 characters that says what the page is about.
- Missing meta descriptions. Write one or two sentences per page; search engines often show them under the title.
- Broken links. Links to pages that no longer exist waste visitors and crawlers.
- Images without alt text. Describe each image in a few words so search engines and screen readers understand it.
- No HTTPS, or mixed HTTP content. Browsers warn visitors about pages that are not fully secure.
- Slow pages. Large images are the usual cause; resize and compress them before uploading.
- Pages that are not mobile friendly. Most customers in India visit on a phone.
- Thin pages with very little text. Explain what you offer, where and for whom.
- Missing headings. Use one main heading per page and sub-headings for sections.
- Blocked pages. A wrong robots.txt rule or noindex tag can hide a page from search completely.
