Writing SEO articles that rank: the 12 checks Gauci AutoSEO uses

An article ranks when it answers a real question clearly. These are the on-page checks AutoSEO scores before you publish.

Start with one question

Pick one keyword that a customer would type, such as "best sweet shop in Howrah" or "how to choose a wedding photographer". One article, one main question.

The 12 checks

  • The keyword is in the title.
  • The title is 30 to 60 characters long.
  • The meta description is 120 to 160 characters long.
  • The keyword is in the meta description.
  • The keyword appears in the first 100 words.
  • There are at least three section headings.
  • The article has at least 800 words.
  • The keyword makes up 0.5% to 2.5% of the words, so it reads naturally.
  • Sentences are short, under 22 words on average.
  • The article links to other useful pages.
  • There is an FAQ with three or more questions.
  • The URL slug is short and contains the keyword.

Publish and keep going

Gauci AutoSEO scores each article out of 100 against these checks and publishes it to your WordPress site now or on a date you choose. One honest, helpful article a week does more than ten rushed ones.
