Owners add their tenants once. Each month tenants pay by UPI straight to the owner, enter the UPI reference, and both get a numbered rent receipt when the owner confirms. Free, with no fees on either side.
How Rent Pay works
- Owner adds the tenancyHome name, tenant's email, monthly rent, due day and the owner's UPI ID.
- Tenant pays by UPIGauci makes a UPI link with the right amount and a note; the money goes straight to the owner.
- Tenant enters the referenceThe UPI reference (UTR) is saved against the month.
- Owner confirms, receipt is madeA numbered receipt with the owner's name (and PAN where needed) is ready to print or save as PDF.
Good to know
- Gauci does not hold, lend or split your rent. It never asks for your UPI PIN.
- For house rent allowance (HRA), employers usually need the owner's PAN when rent is more than ₹1,00,000 a year — Rent Pay asks for it.
- Individuals paying rent of more than ₹50,000 a month must deduct TDS under section 194-IB of the Income-tax Act. Check the current rate with your tax adviser.
- Owners can record cash or bank payments too, and receipts are made the same way.
